Artifacts - Classification System

Artifact Classification System
Artifact Manifestation: We can classify the artifacts based on their phenotype - how they look like on the monitor.

Suppose that we image the Queen's Internal Medicine Logo, what are the the potential artifactual images that can be generated?

5 are displayed for you.
Artifact "Pathogenesis": We can, also, classify artifacts based on the mechanisms.

We shall discuss Resolution, Propagation, and Attenuation artifacts in this module.  Doppler will be discussed separately.

Each of these categories have its own subtype artifacts as per listed which will be further addressed.
We can juxtapose the two classification systems in a table for each subtype of artifacts.

Here, the subtype artifacts are in the center column- "Example", and flanked by their respective Artifact Manifestation and Mechanism.

Personally, I prefer the Artifact Manifestation classification to organize them in my mind as this method is more clinically meaningful - it is what we see on the monitor.
In this series, we will be concentrating on these four types of Artifact Manifestations and their respective subtype artifacts.
