Key Messages:

Scan anyone with acute renal injury  to learn how to find the acoustic windows for the kidneys in both longitudinal and axial planes.

Beware of common pitfalls for hydronephrosis "mimics": renal cyst and extra-renal pelvis.

It is difficult to grade hydronephrosis.  The clinical question you are attempting to answer is whether it is Present or Absent.
